How to Configure and Use Stage Manager on iPad

Master multitasking on iPad with Stage Manager. Learn how to enable, organize windows, and manage your workspace for peak productivity.

  1. Enable Stage Manager in Settings. Open the Settings app on your iPad. Navigate to Multitasking & Gestures in the left sidebar, then select the Stage Manager toggle to turn it on.
  2. Toggle Stage Manager from Control Center. Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center. Tap the Stage Manager icon—a rectangle with three dots at the side—to quickly enable or disable the feature.
  3. Resize and position app windows. Tap and drag the curved corner handle at the bottom of any open window to resize it. To move a window, tap and drag the three-dot handle at the top center of the application.
  4. Create app groups. Drag an app from the Recent Apps sidebar on the left into your current workspace to group it with your existing windows. You can also drag windows from the center of the screen into the sidebar to save them as a group.
  5. Hide or show interface elements. Go to Settings > Multitasking & Gestures. Under the Stage Manager section, toggle 'Recent Apps' or 'Dock' to hide or show these elements during use for more screen real estate.
