How to Configure Safari Privacy Settings on iPad

Secure your browsing experience on iPadOS. Learn how to manage trackers, hide your IP address, and enforce privacy protections in Safari.

  1. Enable Intelligent Tracking Prevention. Open the Settings app on your iPad. Scroll down the left sidebar, tap Safari, and ensure the toggle for Prevent Cross-Site Tracking is set to On. This prevents third-party trackers from following your activity across different websites.
  2. Hide IP Address from Trackers. Within the Safari settings menu, tap Hide IP Address. Select Trackers Only or Trackers and Websites. Selecting Trackers and Websites provides the highest level of privacy by masking your IP address from all web traffic.
  3. Require Face ID for Private Browsing. Navigate to the Safari settings menu and scroll to the Privacy & Security section. Toggle Require Face ID to Unlock Private Browsing to the On position. This adds an authentication layer to your private tabs.
  4. Manage Website Data. In the Safari settings, scroll to the bottom and tap Advanced. Tap Website Data to view cached files. Tap Remove All Website Data to purge stored cookies and local storage items that sites use to identify your device.
  5. Enable Fraudulent Website Warning. Ensure the Fraudulent Website Warning toggle is enabled within the Privacy & Security section of Safari settings. This triggers an immediate alert if a site is suspected of phishing or malicious activity.
