How to Set Up a New iPad as a Clean Slate
Configure your new iPad without migrating legacy data or applications. Perform a clean install to optimize performance and storage.
- Initiate the setup process. Press and hold the top power button until the Apple logo appears. Once the Hello screen displays, swipe up or press the Home button to begin the initial configuration sequence.
- Select manual setup. Follow the on-screen prompts to select your language and region. When the Quick Start screen appears, choose 'Set Up Manually' at the bottom of the display to bypass automatic data migration.
- Establish network connectivity. Select your local Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the password. The iPad will then activate through Apple's servers.
- Configure biometric authentication. Follow the prompts to set up Face ID or Touch ID. Create a strong six-digit passcode when prompted to ensure the security of your new device.
- Choose the Apps & Data source. On the Apps & Data screen, select 'Don't Transfer Apps & Data'. This ensures that no third-party applications, documents, or system caches from previous devices are installed.
- Sign in and complete. Enter your Apple ID to sign in. Once signed in, decline the restore option if prompted and proceed to the Home Screen to begin using your clean, empty iPad.
