How to Restrict App Store Downloads on a Child's iPad
Learn how to use Screen Time settings to restrict app downloads and manage App Store purchases on your child's iPad with these precise steps.
- Enable Screen Time passcode. Open Settings on the iPad and select Screen Time. Tap Use Screen Time Passcode, then enter and confirm a four-digit code that is distinct from the device unlock passcode.
- Access content restrictions. Within the Screen Time menu, tap Content & Privacy Restrictions. Toggle the switch at the top to the ON position to activate the restriction framework.
- Configure iTunes & App Store settings. Tap iTunes & App Store Purchases. Select Installing Apps and set the preference to Don't Allow to prevent all new downloads.
- Adjust content age ratings. Return to the Content & Privacy Restrictions menu and tap Content Restrictions. Select Apps and choose the appropriate age limit for the user.
