How to Pair Apple Pencil with iPad

Follow this guide to pair your Apple Pencil with your iPad. Supports Apple Pencil Pro, USB-C, and 2nd Generation models.

  1. Enable Bluetooth. Open the Settings app on your iPad. Navigate to Bluetooth and ensure the toggle is set to On.
  2. Attach the Apple Pencil. For Apple Pencil (2nd generation) or Apple Pencil Pro, place the accessory onto the magnetic connector located on the side of your iPad. Ensure the flat side of the pencil aligns with the charging area.
  3. Verify the pairing request. A Bluetooth Pairing Request notification will appear on your iPad screen. Tap the Pair button to confirm the connection.
  4. Confirm battery status. Once paired, add the Batteries widget to your Home Screen or Today View. This allows you to monitor the charge level of the Apple Pencil in real time.
