How to set up your new iPad with essential apps
Configure your new iPad efficiently by installing essential apps, managing account settings, and optimizing your initial software environment.
- Sign in to your Apple ID. Open the Settings app and tap Sign in to your iPad at the top of the sidebar. Enter your Apple ID credentials to enable iCloud synchronization and App Store access. Verification is required to associate purchases with your profile.
- Open the App Store. Locate the App Store icon on your Home Screen and tap it to launch. The interface displays personalized recommendations based on your Apple ID region and history. Use the Search tab in the bottom navigation bar to find specific tools.
- Download productivity essentials. Search for Apple-native productivity suites including Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. Tap the Get button to initiate the installation process. If prompted, confirm the installation using your Face ID or passcode.
- Organize your Home Screen. Long-press any icon on your Home Screen until the apps begin to jiggle. Drag your newly installed apps into folders or onto the primary dock for quick access. Tap Done in the top right corner to save your layout.
- Enable automatic updates. Go to Settings, select App Store, and toggle App Updates to the ON position under the Automatic Downloads section. This ensures your essential apps receive security patches and feature updates in the background. Keep Wi-Fi enabled to facilitate these transfers.
