How to Fix an Apple ID Sign-In Loop on iPad

Resolve persistent Apple ID sign-in loops on your iPad with these step-by-step troubleshooting methods to restore account access.

  1. Force restart the iPad. Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Press and hold the top power button until the Apple logo appears on the screen to force a hard reset.
  2. Check system status and network. Navigate to Settings > Wi-Fi and ensure you are connected to a stable network. Verify that the Apple System Status page shows all services as green and operational for Apple ID and iCloud.
  3. Sign out of Media & Purchases. Open Settings and tap your name at the top. Tap Media & Purchases, then select Sign Out. After signing out, restart your iPad and sign back into Media & Purchases to refresh the token.
  4. Reset the Apple ID password. Go to iforgot.apple.com on a secondary device to update your password. Changing the password forces all linked devices to re-authenticate, which often breaks the sign-in loop.
  5. Reset network settings. Navigate to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset. Select Reset Network Settings to clear corrupted Wi-Fi or VPN configurations. Note that this will remove saved Wi-Fi passwords.
