How to Customize Your Android Interface with Icon Packs
Learn how to install and apply custom icon packs on Android to personalize your home screen and app drawer aesthetics.
- Download a third-party launcher. Stock Android launchers often restrict icon modification. Navigate to the Google Play Store and download a launcher that supports icon packs, such as Nova Launcher, Niagara Launcher, or Lawnchair.
- Select and install an icon pack. Search for an icon pack in the Google Play Store. Once downloaded, the icon pack installs as a standalone application containing the assets, though it does not appear in your app drawer as a functional app.
- Open your launcher settings. Long-press on an empty area of your home screen to trigger the context menu. Select the Launcher Settings or Home Settings icon to access the customization dashboard.
- Navigate to the Look and Feel menu. Locate the Look and Feel or Icons menu within your launcher settings. Select Icon Style to view a list of installed icon packs detected by the system.
- Activate your chosen pack. Tap the icon pack you downloaded from the list to preview the changes. Confirm the selection by tapping Apply or OK to override the default system icons.
- Manually edit individual app icons. If an app remains unthemed, long-press the specific icon on your home screen and select Edit. Tap the icon image to manually select a preferred asset from your installed icon pack library.
