How to Use Android Screen Recording

Learn how to record your Android screen with the built-in screen recorder. Step-by-step guide for Android 10+ devices including settings and controls.

  1. Access Quick Settings. Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to fully expand the Quick Settings panel. If you only see a partial panel after the first swipe, swipe down again to reveal all available toggles.
  2. Find the Screen Recorder toggle. Look for the Screen Record tile in your Quick Settings. If you don't see it immediately, swipe left or tap the pencil icon to edit your Quick Settings layout and add Screen Record from the available tiles.
  3. Configure recording settings. Tap the Screen Record toggle. A dialog will appear with audio options. Choose Record audio to capture device sounds and microphone input, or select No audio for a silent recording. Some devices offer separate toggles for device audio and microphone audio.
  4. Start the recording. Tap Start in the dialog box. Android will begin a 3-second countdown before recording starts. You'll see a red recording indicator in your status bar and a floating bubble on your screen during recording.
  5. Record your screen activity. Navigate through your device and perform the actions you want to capture. The screen recorder captures everything visible on your display, including app interactions, gestures, and screen transitions.
  6. Stop the recording. Tap the red recording indicator in your status bar or the floating stop button. Alternatively, pull down your notification panel and tap Stop on the screen recording notification.
  7. Access your recording. Your screen recording saves automatically to your device's Gallery or Photos app. You'll receive a notification when the recording is complete with options to share, delete, or edit the video file.
