How to Enable Google One Backup on Android

Secure your Android data automatically. Learn how to configure Google One backup settings to protect your photos, messages, and app data.

  1. Open system settings. Access the Settings application from your home screen or app drawer. Scroll down and select the Google menu to access your account-specific preferences.
  2. Locate the backup menu. Within the Google settings menu, tap on Backup. If you have not initialized this feature previously, the status will indicate that backup is currently disabled.
  3. Toggle the backup service. Switch the toggle next to 'Backup by Google One' to the On position. Confirm the activation by following the on-screen prompts regarding data synchronization.
  4. Choose data categories. Review the list of items to be backed up, including App data, Photos & videos, SMS messages, and Device settings. Adjust the toggles for each category based on your storage preferences.
  5. Perform a manual backup. Tap the 'Back up now' button at the bottom of the screen to force an immediate synchronization. Allow the process to complete before closing the Settings application.
