How to Disable Ad Personalization on Android

Stop Google from tracking your activity for targeted advertising. Follow these steps to disable ad personalization on your Android device.

  1. Access your system settings. Unlock your device and locate the Settings app icon. Tap it to open the primary configuration menu for your Android system.
  2. Select the Privacy menu. Scroll down the main settings list until you locate the Privacy entry. Tap Privacy to reveal your specific privacy controls and account-level settings.
  3. Open Ads settings. Within the Privacy menu, tap the Ads option. If you do not see it immediately, tap on Advanced to expand the available menu options.
  4. Delete your advertising ID. Tap the button labeled Delete advertising ID. Confirm your selection in the pop-up window to remove the unique identifier used by apps to track your interests.
  5. Confirm the status change. Once deleted, the screen will reflect that you no longer have an advertising ID. Your device is now opted out of tracking for personalized ad profiles.
