How to Review and Manage Android App Permissions
Audit and control the data access permissions for every application installed on your Android device to ensure privacy and security.
- Access the system settings. Open the Settings app on your device. Scroll down and tap on the Privacy menu entry to view high-level security controls.
- Open the Permission Manager. Select Permission Manager from the Privacy dashboard. This screen displays a comprehensive list of all sensitive system categories, such as Camera, Contacts, and Location.
- Review category-specific access. Tap on any specific category to see which apps are currently granted access. Apps are organized into Allowed and Denied sections based on their current permission state.
- Update individual app permissions. Tap the name of any application within a category list. Select between 'Allow only while using the app', 'Ask every time', or 'Don't allow' to change the access level.
- Check recent access history. Navigate back to the main Privacy settings page and tap on Privacy Dashboard. Review the timeline of which apps accessed your data and when, providing a historical log of behavior.
