How to Restrict Photo Access for Android Apps

Secure your privacy by managing granular photo permissions for individual apps on Android 14 and newer.

  1. Open system settings. Open the Settings app from your home screen or app drawer. Scroll down and tap on the Apps menu item.
  2. Locate the target application. Tap on See all apps to view the full list of installed software. Scroll through the list and select the specific application you wish to restrict.
  3. Access permission settings. Within the App info screen, tap on Permissions. This displays all system resources the application is currently requesting or accessing.
  4. Adjust photo and video access. Tap on Photos and videos. This section allows you to define the scope of access the application has to your local storage.
  5. Select access level. Select Select photos and videos instead of Allow all. A system file picker will appear; manually choose only the specific media files the app requires to function.
  6. Save your changes. Tap the Save button at the bottom of the screen. The application will now only have access to the items you explicitly selected.
