How to Restrict Photo Access for Android Apps
Secure your privacy by managing granular photo permissions for individual apps on Android 14 and newer.
- Open system settings. Open the Settings app from your home screen or app drawer. Scroll down and tap on the Apps menu item.
- Locate the target application. Tap on See all apps to view the full list of installed software. Scroll through the list and select the specific application you wish to restrict.
- Access permission settings. Within the App info screen, tap on Permissions. This displays all system resources the application is currently requesting or accessing.
- Adjust photo and video access. Tap on Photos and videos. This section allows you to define the scope of access the application has to your local storage.
- Select access level. Select Select photos and videos instead of Allow all. A system file picker will appear; manually choose only the specific media files the app requires to function.
- Save your changes. Tap the Save button at the bottom of the screen. The application will now only have access to the items you explicitly selected.
