How to Back Up and Restore Secure Folder Data Before a Factory Reset
Securely migrate your private files and apps from the Secure Folder before resetting your Samsung Galaxy device. Follow this step-by-step backup guide.
- Open the Secure Folder settings. Launch the Secure Folder app from your App Drawer. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner and select Settings to access the configuration dashboard.
- Initiate the cloud backup. Within the Secure Folder settings, tap on Backup and restore. Select Back up Secure Folder data to sync your current encrypted files and app data to your Samsung Account.
- Confirm the backup completion. Wait for the progress bar to reach 100%. Once finished, check the timestamp under the Last backup header to verify that the sync successfully captured your latest changes.
- Perform the factory reset. Navigate to Settings > General management > Reset > Factory data reset. Follow the on-screen prompts to erase your device data and restore it to factory conditions.
- Restore data after device setup. After completing the initial device setup, open the Secure Folder app. Log in with your Samsung Account credentials when prompted and select Restore from cloud to pull your encrypted data back onto the device.
