How to Hide Notifications on Android Lock Screen

Secure your privacy by hiding sensitive notification content from your Android lock screen with these simple system settings.

  1. Open the Settings application. Unlock your device and locate the Settings app on your home screen or within the app drawer. Tap the gear icon to launch the system preferences menu.
  2. Access Notifications settings. Scroll down the list of options and select Notifications. Depending on your manufacturer, this may be listed as Notifications & Status Bar.
  3. Locate Lock screen notifications. Find the entry labeled Notifications on lock screen. Tap this option to reveal the privacy configuration menu for your lock screen state.
  4. Adjust privacy visibility. Choose the option labeled Hide silent conversations and notifications or Don't show any notifications. Selecting the latter removes all notification traces from your lock screen entirely.
  5. Confirm the changes. Lock your device using the power button. Wake the screen or trigger an Ambient Display to ensure that incoming notifications no longer display sensitive text or previews.
