Verifying Contacts After Android Data Transfer
Ensure your contacts transferred correctly to your new Android device. Follow these steps to verify sync status, account integrity, and display settings.
- Open the Contacts application. Locate and launch the Contacts app on your new device. Ensure the app has finished its initial background synchronization process, indicated by the absence of a spinning refresh icon at the top of the list.
- Check contact display settings. Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner and select Contacts settings. Navigate to Display settings and tap Contact display. Ensure All contacts is selected to reveal entries from all synced accounts, including SIM cards and local storage.
- Confirm account sync status. Navigate to Settings > Passwords & accounts. Select your Google account and tap Account sync. Verify that the toggle for Contacts is set to On and check the timestamp below it to confirm the last successful sync occurred recently.
- Resolve duplicate entries. In the Contacts app, tap the Fix & manage tab at the bottom of the screen. Select Merge & fix to identify and consolidate duplicate contacts created by the transfer process. Follow the on-screen prompts to merge identified duplicates automatically.
- Cross-reference with cloud storage. Open a web browser on a computer and navigate to contacts.google.com. Compare the total contact count displayed on the web interface with the count shown in the app's settings to ensure all data successfully transferred to the cloud.
