How to change your default browser on Android

Follow these steps to set a new default web browser on your Android device. Quickly switch from Chrome to your preferred browser in seconds.

  1. Open the Settings app. Locate the Settings app on your home screen or in your app drawer. Tap the gear icon to launch the system configuration menu.
  2. Access the Apps menu. Scroll down and tap on Apps. Depending on your manufacturer, this may be labeled as Apps & notifications or Application Manager.
  3. Select Default apps. Look for the Default apps option. You may need to tap See all apps or Advanced to reveal this setting.
  4. Choose Browser app. Tap the Browser app field. This menu displays your current default browser and a list of all installed web browsers on your device.
  5. Assign the new default. Tap the radio button next to your preferred browser from the provided list. Once selected, the system will automatically save the change.
