How to Add Widgets to Your Android Home Screen

Learn how to add, resize, and organize widgets on your Android home screen to access app data at a glance. Follow our quick, step-by-step instructions.

  1. Enter the widget selection menu. Navigate to an empty area on your home screen. Press and hold on any blank space until the home screen menu appears, then tap the Widgets icon located at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Locate the desired widget. Scroll through the list of installed applications to view their available widgets. Tap the app name to expand the list and reveal different layout options for that specific application.
  3. Add the widget to the home screen. Press and hold the specific widget preview you wish to use. Drag the widget to your desired position on the home screen and release your finger to set its location.
  4. Resize the widget dimensions. Tap the widget once to select it. Drag the white handles appearing on the borders to expand or shrink the widget to your preferred size.
  5. Finalize widget settings. Tap outside of the widget or press the Back button to save your changes. If the widget requires a setup screen, follow the on-screen prompts to link your account or choose data preferences.
