How to add device controls to your Android lock screen

Learn how to manage your smart home devices directly from your Android lock screen or quick settings menu using the Device Controls feature.

  1. Open the Device Controls settings. Swipe down from the top of your screen twice to reveal the Quick Settings panel. Tap the Edit icon—represented by a pencil—to customize your layout, and locate the Device Controls toggle.
  2. Add the Device Controls tile. Drag the Device Controls tile from the bottom grid into your active Quick Settings menu. Tap the back arrow to save your changes and return to the main Quick Settings view.
  3. Access the controls menu. Tap the Device Controls tile you just added. This will launch the primary control interface where your smart home devices are categorized by room or service.
  4. Manage your devices list. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the upper-right corner of the controls screen. Select Add controls to browse your connected services, or Edit controls to reorder or remove existing devices.
  5. Use controls from the lock screen. To access these from the lock screen, tap the Device Controls icon located in the bottom-left corner of the display. If the icon is missing, navigate to Settings > Display > Lock screen and ensure Show device controls is toggled on.
