How to Update Your Android Account Recovery Information

Keep your Google account secure by updating your recovery email and phone number. Follow this guide to manage your account security settings on Android.

  1. Open your Google account settings. Open the Settings app on your Android device. Scroll down and tap Google, then tap Manage your Google Account.
  2. Locate the security dashboard. Swipe across the navigation tabs at the top of the screen. Select the Security tab to view your account protection status and recovery options.
  3. Update your recovery phone number. Scroll down to the 'Ways we can verify it's you' section. Tap Recovery phone, enter your password if prompted, and select the edit icon to input a new, accessible phone number.
  4. Update your recovery email address. Return to the Security tab and select Recovery email. Provide a secondary email address that you monitor regularly and tap Save.
  5. Confirm the changes. Once you have entered the new details, check your secondary email or phone for a verification code from Google. Enter the code in the prompt to finalize the update.
