How to Reset Your Android Launcher to Default Settings

Learn how to reset your Android launcher to factory default settings to fix home screen issues, performance lags, or layout errors.

  1. Open system settings. Swipe down from the top of your screen to reveal the notification shade. Tap the gear icon to open the Settings application.
  2. Locate the apps menu. Scroll down and select Apps or Apps & notifications. Tap See all apps to view the full list of installed software on your device.
  3. Find your current launcher. Locate your current home screen app in the list. If you are using the default launcher, search for terms like Pixel Launcher, Samsung One UI Home, or Launcher.
  4. Clear app storage. Tap on the launcher app name to open its App Info page. Select Storage & cache, then tap Clear storage or Clear data.
  5. Confirm the reset. A system dialog will prompt you to confirm the deletion of app data. Tap OK to finalize the process.
  6. Apply the default state. Press the Home button or perform your home gesture. Your device will now load the launcher as if it were opened for the first time.
