How to Enable Find My Device on Android

Secure your smartphone by enabling Google's Find My Device. Follow these steps to track, lock, or erase your Android device remotely.

  1. Open the system settings. Unlock your device and open the Settings app. Scroll down and tap on the Security & Privacy menu to access your device's core protection features.
  2. Access Find My Device settings. Within the Security & Privacy menu, tap on Device finders or Find My Device. If you do not see this immediately, use the search bar at the top of the Settings app to type 'Find My Device'.
  3. Enable the toggle switch. Tap the toggle switch next to 'Use Find My Device' to turn the feature on. Ensure the toggle displays as active or enabled.
  4. Select network finding preferences. Tap 'Find your offline devices' to configure how your phone remains discoverable. Choose 'With network in all areas' to allow the device to be located even without a cellular data connection using the Find My Device network.
  5. Test your device location. Navigate to android.com/find on a web browser. Sign in with the same Google account used on your Android device to confirm the phone appears on the map.
