How to Switch from iPhone to Android

Follow this step-by-step guide to migrate your contacts, photos, and data from your iPhone to your new Android device safely and efficiently.

  1. Disable iMessage and FaceTime. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and toggle off iMessage. Navigate to Settings > FaceTime and toggle off FaceTime to ensure incoming texts arrive on your new device.
  2. Initialize the Android migration tool. Power on your new Android device and begin the setup process. When prompted to copy apps and data, select Next and choose the option to transfer from an iPhone.
  3. Establish a secure connection. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the devices using a USB-C to Lightning cable. If you lack a cable, choose the wireless option to sync via a temporary local Wi-Fi network created by the Android device.
  4. Choose data categories for transfer. Review the checklist on your Android screen. Select the specific data types you wish to migrate, including contacts, calendar events, photos, videos, and call logs.
  5. Execute the data migration. Tap Copy to begin the transfer. Keep both devices unlocked and connected until the progress bar reaches completion, as interrupting the process may corrupt transferred files.
  6. Sign in and finalize setup. Complete the Android setup wizard by signing in with your Google account. Once at the home screen, open the Google Photos and Contacts apps to verify that your data has successfully populated.
