How to set up fingerprint unlock on Android

Secure your Android device using biometric authentication. Follow this step-by-step guide to configure your fingerprint sensor for instant access.

  1. Open your device security settings. Open the Settings app on your Android device. Scroll down and tap on the Security & Privacy menu to access authentication options.
  2. Navigate to biometric settings. Select Device Unlock from the list. Choose Fingerprint Unlock to proceed to the registration interface.
  3. Initiate fingerprint enrollment. Tap the Add Fingerprint button to start the scanning process. Place your finger on the sensor located either on the display or the device power button.
  4. Capture your fingerprint data. Lift and place your finger repeatedly on the sensor, shifting your position slightly with each tap. Ensure you capture the edges and the center of your fingerprint for maximum accuracy.
  5. Complete the setup process. Once the enrollment is successful, tap Done to save your profile. You may repeat the process for additional fingers if desired.
