How to Change the Default Web Browser on Android

Follow these steps to set your preferred web browser as the default on any Android device running Android 12 or newer.

  1. Open the system settings. Unlock your device and locate the Settings app icon. Tap the gear icon to launch the full system settings menu.
  2. Access the application manager. Scroll down and tap on Apps. Depending on your specific manufacturer skin, this may be labeled as Apps & notifications or Application Manager.
  3. Select default apps. Tap on Default apps. If you do not see this immediately, tap on See all apps or Advanced to reveal the hidden submenu.
  4. Choose the browser app. Locate the Browser app option in the list. Tap the Browser app field to view a selection of all web browsers currently installed on your device.
  5. Set the new default. Select your preferred browser from the provided list. The checkmark will move to the selected application, confirming the change is active.
