How to Restore an Android Phone from a Google Backup

Learn how to restore your Android phone from a Google Cloud backup during setup. Follow these precise steps to recover your apps, data, and settings.

  1. Power on the device and begin setup. Power on your device to display the Welcome screen. Select your language and tap Get Started to initiate the initial configuration wizard.
  2. Connect to a stable Wi-Fi network. Select your local Wi-Fi network from the available list and enter the password. A stable network connection is required to fetch backup data from Google servers.
  3. Sign in to your Google Account. Enter the email address and password associated with the Google account that contains your backup. Complete the two-factor authentication prompt if prompted on your secondary device.
  4. Choose the backup to restore. The device will search for existing backups. Select the specific device backup you wish to restore from the provided list.
  5. Select restore categories. Select the specific data categories you wish to restore, including Apps, Call History, Device Settings, and Contacts. Tap Restore to begin the synchronization process.
  6. Complete device setup. Follow the remaining on-screen prompts for biometric security and Google Assistant configuration. Once finished, the system will begin downloading your applications in the background.
