How to Activate a SIM Card on Android
Follow this guide to insert and activate your SIM card on a new Android device for immediate mobile network connectivity.
- Power off the device. Press and hold the Power button and Volume Up button simultaneously. Select Power off from the menu to ensure the device is completely shut down before hardware installation.
- Insert the SIM card. Locate the SIM tray on the side of your phone. Insert the SIM ejector tool into the small hole and apply firm, steady pressure until the tray pops out. Place your Nano-SIM into the slot, ensuring the notched corner aligns with the tray shape, then slide the tray back into the device.
- Power on and verify detection. Power the device back on. Once the lock screen appears, wait for the signal bars to appear in the status bar at the top right of the screen.
- Configure network settings. Navigate to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs. Select your carrier profile and ensure the Use SIM toggle is set to On.
- Test the connection. Turn off Wi-Fi in the Quick Settings menu by swiping down from the top of the screen. Attempt to load a webpage in Chrome to confirm cellular data functionality.
