How to Fix Blurry Photos on Android

Stop taking blurry photos on your Android device. Follow these steps to calibrate your camera lens, software settings, and focus tracking for sharp images.

1. Clean the camera lens module. Smudges and oils from fingers are the primary cause of hazy photos. Use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe the glass covering your rear camera lenses. Avoid using abrasive paper towels or clothing, which can create micro-scratches on the lens coating.
2. Enable manual focus locking. Autofocus can hunt for the wrong subject in low-light conditions. Open the Camera app, point your camera at the subject, and tap and hold on the screen exactly where the focus should be. Look for the AE/AF Lock indicator to appear, signaling that the focus distance is now locked.
3. Adjust camera stabilization settings. Navigate to Camera settings by tapping the gear icon in the app. Ensure that Video Stabilization and High-Efficiency Image formats are toggled to the optimal settings for your lighting. If shooting in low light, disable high-speed burst modes, as they prioritize shutter speed over image quality.
4. Clear the Camera app cache. Corrupt temporary files can cause the camera's processing engine to glitch. Go to Settings > Apps > See all apps > Camera > Storage & cache. Tap Clear Cache to reset the temporary data without deleting your saved photos.
5. Verify software and hardware integrity. Test the hardware by opening the camera in Safe Mode to rule out third-party app interference. If photos remain blurry in Safe Mode, the issue is likely hardware-related. Check for physical damage on the lens glass that may require professional repair.
