How to Fix Quick Share Connectivity Issues on Android
Resolve connection failures with Android's Quick Share. Follow these steps to reset settings, verify proximity, and enable discoverability for seamless sharing.
- Enable Quick Share visibility. Open Settings and navigate to Connected devices. Tap Connection preferences, select Quick Share, and ensure 'Who can share with you' is set to 'Everyone' or 'Contacts'. This eliminates filtering errors during the handshake process.
- Refresh wireless radios. Swipe down to open the Quick Settings panel. Toggle both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi off, wait ten seconds, and toggle them back on. This clears existing handshake hang-ups and forces a fresh scan for nearby devices.
- Clear Quick Share cache. Go to Settings, select Apps, and tap See all apps. Locate Quick Share, tap Storage & cache, and select Clear cache. This removes temporary data fragments that often cause transfer timeouts.
- Disable Do Not Disturb. Ensure the receiving device does not have Do Not Disturb enabled. This mode can suppress incoming notification requests required to accept file transfers. Check the status bar for the Do Not Disturb icon to confirm it is inactive.
- Perform a system power cycle. Hold the Power and Volume Up buttons simultaneously to access the power menu. Select Restart on both devices involved in the transfer. A clean reboot terminates background processes that may be locking the wireless antenna.
