How to Customize Your Android Keyboard
Personalize your typing experience on Android by adjusting layout, theme, and correction settings in Gboard.
- Open Gboard settings. Open any app that requires text entry to reveal the keyboard. Tap the Settings icon located in the top toolbar of the keyboard interface.
- Apply a custom theme. Select Theme from the settings menu. Choose a landscape image, a solid color, or a gradient from the provided selections to change the background and key style.
- Adjust keyboard layout and size. Go back to the settings menu and select Preferences. Tap Keyboard height to choose from seven different size options, or select Layout to toggle the number row visibility.
- Configure text correction. Navigate to Text correction within the main settings menu. Toggle Auto-correction, Spell check, and Next-word suggestions to suit your typing habits.
- Enable Glide Typing. Select Glide typing from the settings menu. Ensure Enable glide typing is toggled on to allow you to input words by sliding your finger across the letters.
- Save and test changes. Exit the settings menu and return to a text field. Verify that your new theme, size, and correction preferences are active by typing a test sentence.
