How to Customize Android Gesture Navigation
Learn to adjust gesture sensitivity, back navigation, and system behavior on Android to optimize your navigation experience.
- Open system navigation settings. Open the Settings app on your device. Navigate to System, then select Gestures, and tap System navigation to view your current configuration.
- Configure back gesture sensitivity. Tap the gear icon next to Gesture navigation. Adjust the Back sensitivity slider to increase or decrease the area from the screen edge that triggers the back action.
- Enable or disable gesture hints. Within the Gesture navigation menu, toggle the Gesture bar switch to show or hide the visual pill indicator at the bottom of the screen. Hiding the bar provides a cleaner full-screen experience.
- Set up Quick Tap actions. Return to the main Gestures menu and select Quick Tap. Enable the feature to trigger actions such as taking a screenshot or opening an app by tapping the back of your phone twice.
- Customize power button gestures. Navigate to System, then Gestures, and select Press and hold power button. Choose between triggering the digital assistant or opening the power menu for quick shutdown access.
