How to Install and Configure Your Ring Video Doorbell
A step-by-step guide to installing, powering, and configuring your Ring Video Doorbell for secure home monitoring.
- Charge the internal battery. Remove the doorbell from its packaging and charge the battery fully using the included micro-USB or USB-C cable. Wait for the indicator light to glow solid green before proceeding to ensure the device performs firmware updates correctly during setup.
- Add the device in the Ring app. Download the Ring app from the App Store and sign in or create an account. Tap Set Up a Device, select Doorbells, and scan the QR code located on the back of the device or on the included Quick Start Guide.
- Connect to Wi-Fi. Follow the in-app prompts to join the temporary Ring Wi-Fi network generated by the doorbell. Once connected, select your local 2.4GHz network from the list and enter your password to finalize the cloud registration.
- Mark and drill installation holes. Hold the mounting bracket against your door frame at chest height, roughly 48 inches from the ground. Use a pencil to mark the screw positions, then use a drill and the provided drill bit to create pilot holes for the mounting screws.
- Mount the doorbell. Align the doorbell with the mounting bracket and drive the mounting screws into the pilot holes. Tighten the security screw on the bottom of the faceplate using the included star-shaped screwdriver to lock the unit in place.
