How to Use Gemini for Image Analysis
Learn to analyze images with Google Gemini AI. Upload photos, ask questions, and get detailed insights about visual content in seconds.
- Access Gemini with image support. Navigate to gemini.google.com and sign in with your Google account. Ensure you're using Gemini Pro or Gemini Advanced, as the free tier has limited image analysis capabilities. Look for the attachment icon in the chat interface.
- Upload your image. Click the paperclip or attachment icon in the chat box. Select your image file from your device or drag and drop it directly into the chat interface. Gemini supports JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP formats up to 20MB.
- Write a specific prompt. Type your analysis request in the text box. Be specific about what you want to know. Examples: 'Describe everything you see in this image' or 'What breed of dog is this?' or 'Extract the text from this screenshot.'
- Review the analysis results. Press Enter to submit your request. Gemini will process the image and provide a detailed response based on your prompt. The analysis typically includes object identification, scene description, text extraction, or answers to your specific questions.
- Ask follow-up questions. Continue the conversation by asking additional questions about the same image. Type follow-up prompts like 'What colors are dominant?' or 'Can you identify any safety hazards?' Gemini retains context from the uploaded image throughout the conversation.
- Save or export results. Copy the analysis text by selecting and using Ctrl+C (Windows) or Cmd+C (Mac). For longer conversations, click the share button to generate a shareable link or use your browser's print function to save as PDF.
