How to Delete Claude Conversation History

Learn how to permanently delete your Claude conversation history and manage your chat data privacy settings in Anthropic's AI assistant.

  1. Access your Claude account. Open claude.ai in your web browser and sign in to your account. Your conversation history appears in the left sidebar as a list of chat sessions.
  2. Delete individual conversations. Hover over the conversation you want to delete in the left sidebar. Click the three-dot menu icon that appears next to the conversation title. Select 'Delete' from the dropdown menu.
  3. Confirm the deletion. Click 'Delete' in the confirmation dialog that appears. The conversation disappears from your sidebar immediately and cannot be recovered.
  4. Clear all conversation history. Click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner of the Claude interface. Select 'Settings' from the menu. Navigate to the 'Privacy' or 'Data' section.
  5. Execute bulk deletion. Look for 'Clear conversation history' or 'Delete all conversations' option. Click this button and confirm your choice in the warning dialog. All conversations delete immediately from your account.
  6. Verify deletion completion. Return to the main chat interface. Your conversation sidebar should now be empty, showing only the option to start a new conversation.
